Happy May Day!

The first day of May is an opportunity to embrace and celebrate the glorious arrival of Spring!
It used to be that May Day would see feasting and dancing in towns across the land. Sadly, today there is not a maypole to be seen!
It does make me reflect upon how overcomplicated modern living seems to have become. How the pressures and strains put upon us can have such a huge impact on our overall wellbeing. There is something to be said for taking time out to appreciate the beauty and bounty that nature has to offer and to simply have some fun!
I may not have a maypole (shame!) but I will be celebrating Spring and nature today, in my own small way.
As part of your pain recovery journey could you create a daily practice that takes you away from your work, chores and must do’s. Now Spring is sprung, pop outside and take a few moments to reflect on what you can see, smell and hear? Just a 5-minute break is enough to soothe, calm and restore an overactive nervous system, the part of you that is activated when stress creeps in. These 5 minutes will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to continue with the rest for your day.
If anyone does happen to have a maypole, I would suggest dancing around this too, as having fun is one of the best ways to promote self- healing!
