Pain Recovery Coaching
Why You Might Be Struggling with Chronic Pain and Stress-Related Illness
I help people just like you, recover from chronic pain and stress illnesses, using a whole person approach. Which means, that unlike most conventional treatments, I do not focus on the site of the pain, but look at the external or internal stressors that are responsible for driving the pain.
All pain is created in the brain. In fact scientific and clinical evidence show that chronic pain is rarely caused by structural damage. Remember this fact, it can be life changing! This is called neuroplastic pain. People who suffer from neuroplastic pain can also be described as having tension myoneural syndrome (TMS) or having a psychophysiological disorder (PPD). To keep things simple, I like to refer to them as mind-body symptoms.

The mind-body approach builds on the work of Dr. John Sarno, a Rehabilitation Professor in New York, who discovered that, in the absence of serious medical conditions, persistent symptoms—including musculoskeletal pain, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, tinnitus, and IBS—are not caused by structural damage in the body. Instead, they are generated by the brain as a protective response to repressed emotions from unresolved stress and trauma, or even everyday stressors. Over time, these symptoms can become chronic, driven by ongoing fear, frustration, and hypersensitivity.

Our work together is designed to help you break free from chronic pain and stress-related illness by addressing the root causes—not just the symptoms. I tailor each session to your unique needs, weaving in different elements at the right time while always following your lead. Here’s what we’ll focus on:
Understanding Pain & Neuroplasticity
You’ll learn the latest insights into pain science and neuroplastic pain—why it happens, how it becomes chronic, and most importantly, how to reverse it.
Rewiring the Brain’s Pain Signals
I’ll teach you techniques to “dial down” the danger signals your brain creates in response to pain, using pain reprocessing strategies that help retrain your nervous system.
Calming the Nervous System
Your nervous system plays a key role in carrying pain signals and creating inflammation. Together, we’ll work on practices that soothe and regulate your system, reducing its overactive response.
Shifting Limiting Mindsets & Beliefs
Through a blend of cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT) and coaching, we’ll identify and shift thought patterns, behaviours, and beliefs that may be reinforcing your pain.
Managing Stress & Building Resilience
I’ll support you in understanding and managing your current stress response, helping you develop healthier ways to handle life’s challenges.
Prioritising Self-Care & Self-Compassion
You’ll learn to nurture yourself with kindness, self-care, and emotional awareness—key elements in breaking the cycle of pain and stress.
Emotional Awareness & Release
Emotions play a crucial role in pain. Together, we’ll use regulation and expression practices to safely process and release repressed emotions, restoring balance to your system.
