Miserable Bank Holiday?
Is your Bank Holiday a wash out, and not just because of the rain?
Is living with pain holding you back from enjoying everyday activities?
If yes, please read on.
A few years ago, I was exactly where you are now. I stopped doing the things that I loved, I was living with constant back pain and thought I was totally broken. It was miserable.
Guided by the latest research in neuroscience and nervous system regulation, I was able to make a full recovery.
Now I am not showing off, I promise, but this Bank Holiday I have been for a run, won a swing ball tournament in my back garden, against a 10-year-old! Have been bending, titivating my flower beds (in between dodging the showers) for hours. Not for one moment whilst doing any of this did I think about my back or doing myself any damage. I enjoyed them all.
So how did I go from being miserable to this?
Latest developments in neuroscience have proven that chronic pain and various other conditions are a result of nervous system dysregulation. Learned responses to strong emotions or perceived threats cause the brain and subsequently the nervous system to become fixed in a state of “ fight or flight “. This leads on to stress chemicals being released into the body which creates inflammation and pain. In my case it was my back but there are numerous ways that mind body symptoms present themselves-you can click on this list to view some more of them.

The truly fantastic news is that these symptoms can be reduced, and in many cases, fully resolved. By creating new neural pathways in your brain, quite literally retraining your brain that everyday activities are safe (including swing ball with a 10-year-old), you can move out of the fear – pain cycle, that you are currently stuck in, and embrace life again.
